Media Training

Effective company spokespersons are vitally important in achieving communications results. We have found that CEOs, other senior company officers and outside experts are often not well prepared to handle media interviews and television appearances.

Marston has had more than 35 years of experience training spokespersons to present themselves, their companies and their products and services effectively on television and radio, in magazine and newspaper interviews and online discussions.

We use an incremental approach that focuses on the few key messages the individual will deliver. We conduct and tape mock interviews with spokespersons and then critique them to improve performance. These trial interviews are often repeated until the spokespersons are entirely comfortable with the interview environment and effective in their delivery.

Our training process includes:
  Preparing for an interview
  Defining the key messages
  Handling difficult questions
  Handling interviewer interruptions
Ensuring the key messages are delivered accurately and credibly
  Managing a press conference
  Handling a crisis

Marston’s professionals have successfully transformed many clients who were uncomfortable with public appearances into focused and highly effective spokespersons.
